What I'm building now.

Every project here starts in the archives and ends in people's hands: a film, a book, a family record. These are the ones in progress, and where support would take them further.

Hidden Wonders

A six-episode documentary series beyond the beaches: the history, legends and places that shape island life, filmed on Utila, Roatan, Guanaja, Santos Guardiola, Saint Helene, Morat, Barbareta and the cays.

Made with Kirk Hays, The Vagabond Artist, with an expected reach of over 1.5 million.

Looking for support with filming expenses, post-production and distribution.

The next Mae & Mr. Hedges book

The second children's book in the series, inspired by indigenous artifacts from the Bay Islands that have never been shown to the public. I gave readers a first look at the International Book Fair of Honduras in 2026.

The first book, Mae & Mr. Hedges Discover Port Royal, turned century-old records into a story children can hold on to.

Looking for support with printing and distribution to schools.

Coming 2027

The Bay Islands' Cookbook, with UNITEC

85 island recipes, standardized with Chef Liz Paz and her UNITEC Gastronomy students so each dish can be cooked the same way, anywhere.

Looking for support with printing, photography for the book, and travel for the chef and a biologist to spend two weeks in the Bay Islands.

The Bay Islands' Apothecary

A book on the islands' traditional remedies and the knowledge behind them, gathered from the elders who still use them.

Looking for support with travel for a biologist to study the islands' plants, fruits, bark, leaves and roots, and printing.

The Bay Islands' Historical & Cultural Preservation Society

Founded in 2024 by islanders from across the archipelago so our heritage is kept by its own people. I serve as President.

The Archive

Genealogies, documents and headstones from across the islands, searchable by family name.

Virtual Museum

A meeting of the Preservation Society

Archiving Encounters

We visit island families and scan their records on the spot, so the originals stay at home.

How you can help

  • Collaborators to help clean up island cemeteries and identify the people buried there.
  • Island families willing to share their documents so we can digitize them.
  • Content creators who want to share the history, culture and heritage of the Bay Islands.
  • Donations for equipment and to build our office. A local islander has already offered a quarter acre of land for it.
