Interview at Honduras' largest radio "HRN" in Tegucigalpa
This morning I had the joy of giving an interview to HRN, the largest and the most important radio station in Honduras, where I got to share something that means a lot to me — the reimagining of Utila’s tourism identity. For too long, Utila has been seen mostly as a party and diving destination, but we’re changing that narrative. This summer, visitors will have the chance to connect with the island on a much deeper level — exploring our indigenous heritage, our layered histor

Interview at Q'Hubo Tv in Tegucigalpa
I had the pleasure of being on Q’Hubo TV a few hours ago to talk about something really close to my heart: the other face of tourism — cultural tourism. We’re so used to seeing tourism as just beaches and fun (which are great!), but there’s a whole other side that’s just as powerful. It’s about our history, our identity, and the stories that have shaped the Bay Islands. I also shared a bit about the museum that’s currently being built in Utila. It’s going to be open to the pu

Book signing with Steve Elkins, explorer who discovered the City of the Monkey God in Honduras
I had the chance to attend a lecture and book signing at the Kimpton at Grand Roatan Resort with Steve Elkins, the explorer who discovered the legendary Ciudad Blanca, also known as the Lost City of the Monkey God. This incredible story was documented by renowned author Douglas Preston, who was invited by Elkins to join the expedition and later wrote the bestselling book based on their real-life adventure. What was discovered in that remote part of the Honduran Mosquitia jung

Meet-and-Greet at Expo Beep 2025: A Celebration of History and Community
On June 21st, 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in the Expo BIP 2025, an event that brings together entrepreneurs, local brands, and the community in celebration of BIP's 14th anniversary. Every year, the expo highlights creativity, innovation, and the stories behind the people who shape our islands — and this time, I was honored to be part of it. During the meet-and-greet, we hosted a book signing for “History, Culture, and Cuisine of the Bay Islands” , available in

Society meeting with the members of the Bay IslandsHistorical and Cultural Preservation Society
We had a meeting with the Bay Islands Historical and Cultural Preservation Society, and while I’ll share more soon about the project we’re currently working on, I wanted to take a moment to talk about something special from that meeting. Each of us received a copy of A Piece of the Puzzle, written by Keila Rochelle Thompson Gough , our society’s vice president. I started reading it tonight, and right from the introduction, it’s clear how powerful this book is. There’s a line

Book donation for Honduran Fair in the capital city of Tegucigalpa
September 6th, I had the opportunity to visit a small community in the capital to attend a Honduran Fair. During September, communities across Honduras gather to celebrate Independence Month, and this event was a small example of that tradition. The streets were alive with energy: locals of this community came together to sell traditional Honduran foods. I tried the famous pastel borracho, "drunk cake" made with rum. Bria enjoyed the delicious carrot cake and tacos. What stoo

I sold a 12-page story to Mexican magazine Perpetuo about the Indomitable Soul of the Bay Islands
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been working on something very close to my heart, an essay about one of the Bay Islands’ most beautiful yet fading traditions: the dance around the May Pole Tree. For generations, this dance was one of the liveliest and most meaningful community celebrations on the islands. It represented unity, joy, and a deep connection to who we are as islanders. Sadly, like many traditions passed down orally, it has been eroding in recent years under outside

ARC+ News is now a reality for us!
For the last couple of months, I’ve been working on the culture interviews of ARC+ News , a new media project that came about from few conversations among island friends and colleagues on how much the Bay Islands needed a media that digs deeper, runs investigations, and focuses on stories that really matter. We felt that news in general has become sensational and misses the chance to highlight people doing real work for our communities. This is a platform that showcases truth

Preserving Island Flavors: A New Collaboration with Chef Liz Paz
Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Chef Liz Paz at the University of Unitec Honduras , where she teaches within the Gastronomy career. Each visit has been a treat for me, I've gotten to sample incredible dishes. Recently, Chef Paz invited me for a new kind of experience. She now teaches courses in Food Conservation and Sustainability, and she wanted to explore the island’s culinary techniques and unique local ingredients to inspire future dishes. Durin

On the Cover of Caribella Magazine, April 2025
I’m thrilled to share that I was featured on the cover of the April 2025 edition of Caribella Magazine ! This feature was an opportunity to talk about my journey—not just as a content creator, but as someone dedicated to preserving and sharing the history, culture, and traditions of the Bay Islands of Honduras. What started as simple social media posts to answer friends’ questions about beautiful beaches grew into a lifelong project focused on celebrating the richness of the

Guest Speaker at True Utila 2025: Honoring the Bay Islands’ Heritage
I had the honor of participating as a guest speaker in the first edition of True Utila , a new annual event created to highlight and protect the heritage, culture, and natural beauty of the island. The gathering took place on Utila and was organized by Trey and Marichi, the owners of SafeSpot, who greeted us warmly from the moment we arrived. Their vision for True Utila is to create a space where history, culture, and conservation come together, and it was inspiring to see t
